Sharon K. Black, M.S., J.D.
Ms. Black is an international telecommunications attorney and consultant with more than 25 years of practical experience in both the public and private sectors. Ms. Black was the first person in the United States to earn a Masters of Science in Telecommunications awarded in 1972 from the University of Colorado. She also holds her J.D. from the University of Denver, and her Bachelors degree magna cum laude in International Affairs from the University of Colorado.
Ms. Black has served as a consultant to the State of Colorado, participating in development of rules for compliance with telecommunications regulation, and assisted in arbitration of interconnection agreements for the Colorado State Public Utilities Commission. She has served as Director for the Jefferson County Emergency Communications Service. She has also spent several years in private industry as a consultant and a senior telecommunications manager.
Ms. Black currently serves as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Colorado, and has served as a faculty member for the University of Denver School of Law and the University of Minnesota graduate school of business. Ms. Black also maintains a private law practice.
Ms. Black has published numerous articles in Law journals and other publications, and has recently published her first book, Telecommunications Law in the Internet Age.
Ms. Black resides in Erie, Colorado.
